This O.A. is registered on the basis of letter dated 04.06.2023 received from one Mahendra Singh Rawat, Gram Panchayat Gamshali, Post Bampa, Development Block and Teshil Joshimath, Janpath Chamoli.

The allegation in the letter is against the work of construction of road and consequential damage in the Niti Ghati.

It is alleged that M/s Asis Company, responsible for the construction of road is throwing debry and muck in Shri Ganesh Ganga River and Dhauli River and polluting the water and obstructing flow of the river leading to the possibility of flood in these two rivers.

It is also alleged that though the mining is restricted in the area but the company concerned is doing the blasting of huge rocks causing closure of all water resources.

A perusal of the letter reveals that to some extent the issue relating to violation of environmental laws is reflected but the full particulars relating to violations have not been disclosed, hence at this stage we are of the view -2- that the grievance raised in the letter petition should first be considered by the competent authority i.e.

Secretary, UKPCB.

Hence we dispose of the O.A. directing the Secretary, UKPCB to consider the grievance raised in the letter petition and take appropriate remedial action.

Let the needful be done within a period of 8 weeks from the date of the receipt of the copy of this order.

Registry is directed to forward the copy of this order alongwith the copy of the letter dated 04.06.2023 to the Secretary, UKPCB.

O.A. is accordingly, disposed of.
