Union of India & Ors. (Writ Petition (s) (Criminal) No(s).
99/2015), this Court has taken up the matter as Suo Moto petition dealing with the installation of CCTV cameras in court rooms and tribunals.
Certain directions were issued by this Court from time to time.

As per the learned Amicus Curiae, the following 14 quasi judicial authorities are functioning in the State: 1.

Secretary, Sikkim Information Commission 4.
Secretary, Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes 5.
Secretary, Police Accountability Commission 6.
Office of District Collector, East 7.
Office of District Collector, West 8.
Office of District Collector, North 9.
Office of District Collector, South 10.
Member Secretary, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Member Secretary, Sikkim Women’s Commission 12.
State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission 13.
District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum 14.
State Electricity Regulatory Commission 3.
We have been informed by the learned Additional Advocate General that CCTV cameras have been installed in the office of all the above quasi judicial authorities.

Learned Amicus Curiae has filed a report dated 01.4. ated 01.4.2019, in which it is stated that she has visited the offices of Sub-Divisional Magistrates of all the Districts and found that in some offices of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, CCTV cameras have not been installed where cases are being conducted.
At this, learned Additional Advocate General submits that CCTV cameras in the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, where court proceedings are being conducted, shall be installed within six months.

It has also been pointed out by the learned Additional Advocate General that CCTV cameras have been installed in all the 27 Child Care Institutions in Sikkim.
A Compliance Report dated 01.04.2019 has also been filed by the respondent no.1, to that effect.

Considering the above facts, we are of the view that the present writ petition deserves to be closed and the same is closed.
